The ThermaCELL Outdoor Lantern operates on a single butane cartridge, which heats a mat releasing allethrin, a synthetic copy of a natural insecticide found in pyrethrum flowers, creating a 15 x 15 foot comfort zone. My uncle and I do a lot of hunting, and in the early bow season you just might get carried right out of your treestand without some sort of mosquito repellent. We each bought the hand-held thermacells about two years ago and let me just say... THEY WORK The first night I used it, I questioned its effectiveness and switched it off for the last 10 minutes of my hunt - BIG MISTAKE. If the mosquitoes aren't around you... don't turn it off They're just hiding.
I got this for my parents to take with them camping. The lantern feature is perfect to put on the picnic table or to take with you on that dreaded stroll to the mosquito infested bathrooms!
I bought this ThermoCELL 3-4 weeks ago. We have a large blue stone patio that my wife likes to spend her early morning and late evening hours on. Our yard is surrounded with trees and a small marsh is within 200 yards of our property. Needless to say we have a lot of mosquitoes each year. The TermoCELL has kept the mosquitos away and we can once again enjoy our patio.
