My wife and I ordered 2 of these for our heavily mosquito infested property in South Carolina. We put in the batteries and commenced the war against the flying vampires. We decided to grill some chicken and eat on the patio, and before we were finished with our salad we had dozens of the little blood suckers flying all around us. We then went inside the house, leaving The Vortex insect traps running on the table, in the dark, for 2 hours. They caught exactly 1 mosquito. 1! We are returning them right now.
Received this item a few days ago and am testing it inside the house; it seems to be rather lightweight for outdoor use, so don't know how successful it would be outside. Our application is for indoor use, to combat the mosquitoes that slip inside via either open doors or with our three dogs when they use their pet door at night. Living in mosquito-inhabited north Texas, we battle these creatures most of the year... I only see relief January - March. Nothing says "Merry Christmas!" like installing seasonal lights on the house while battling the little bloodsuckers.
I would recommend this for 'light' indoor use, with the power cord/adapter supplied. Had it running only a couple of days and it's caught a few moths I didn't know were in the house; will see how it does with mosquitoes soon and will update/edit this review with those results.
