Confirmed with SC Johnson that the product is intended for use when you are sitting still. Probably works fine for that. But I bought thinking it was OK to use while I was walking the dogs at the outdoor dog park. Nope. So avoid my mistake: buy only if you plan to sit still on the deck, at the beach, in the park.
I bought the clip on for my vacation camping in the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains where it was very buggy this year. Im not sure how much the clip on helped but you can only use them sitting still which was ok but if you are active this product wont work for you. I used it sitting by the tailer and campfire. I guess if you are fishing you could use it standing still but it might scare the fish away from the smell of bug repellent. The one really nice thing about this product is how long it lasts, since it only works while you stand still for more than 2-3 minuets the inserts lasted a long time. I bought 6 refills but only used 1 insert in 7 days. Each insert lasts 12 hours so sitting around the camp it really lasted a long time. The other nice thing was the inserts last 2 years left in the package so I only used one and have plenty for the next 2 years, just dont take them out of the package you have to use them within 30 days. I thinks this product is worth the money although I had massive amounts of bug spray on and still got bit 15+ times yuck! All though they dont specify what the range on the protection is but it did seem to keep the mosquitos away from the immediate area.
