My husband had the hunting version of these and I kept "borrowing" it. We live in what is essentially a swamp or if you prefer the PC term wetlands. It is a beautiful place except for the tons of mosquitoes (and gnats).
I love sitting on the front porch watching the kids or just rocking and reading. I feel like I'm a feeding station for the local mosquito population when I'm sitting there. Also my husband is a hunter in the Green swamp which as you can imagine is also loaded with mosquitoes.
I've tried many products over the years and none compare to how well this product works. It REALLY keeps an 8 to 12 foot perimiter truely free of mosquitoes. Unlike so many of the stinky useless citronella candles and torches etc., these don't have any oder. For that matter you hardly notice it except when you get out of range and notice the bugs. It doesn't even bother my dog who seems to not like inscence and that kind of thing. Also, if you can use it for hunting the prey can't smell it either or they wouldn't come around.
I liked it so much I bought them for Christmas gifts for friends and family who like to spend time outside.
Bought this halfway through a weeklong camping trip. Not a mosquito all night, after being eaten alive all week. My only complaint is that it's called a "lantern," which is laughable. We could barely even see the 1/16 inch size speck of blue flame, even after the sun was down.
But, no mosquitoes, which is the main goal for me.
